Vincent Andrew Sanders Is Here!

On Monday the 23rd of June at 1:20 a.m. the 3,3 kg heavy Vinnie has arrived into this world and here are some pics of the beautiful & happy miminko with the happy & beautiful maminka;-) (We had some deliciously old Cuban rum to celebrate this wonderful arrival & assure his good healthyet we still need to toast with the blessed father & those who could not make it - pics of that later;-)

Kolobojovka '08

Velka jarni KOLOBOJOVKA probehnuvsi 14.6.2008 byla uz 5-tym rocnikem akce, ktera si rok od roku ziskava stale vetsi popularitu a nabyva i na poctu zucastnenych. Letos se zucastnilo 8 kolo-tymu o celkovem poctu 54 jezdcu. Mezi letosni "nej" patri napr. tym 'Silnickaru,' ktery si letostni okruh zajel (vcetne penalizaci za napovedu) za krasnych 10h 53min (navsteva 4 pohostinstvi je znat); 'Filipovci,' kteri prijeli az ve 22:45 (jizda v noci ma taky sve kouzlo) anebo 'Volejbalisti,' kteri si planovanou delku trasy prodlouzili z 56 na krasnych 92 km...

Dvoum hlavnim organizatorkam Gabi a Helce se tak podarilo dat dohromady paradni soutez, kdy cestou od stanoviste ke stanovisti hledajic indicie, ze kterych jsme nasledne vylustili kam dal ject a jakou trasu si zvolit, jsme letos objevovali "zapomenuta" zakouti Melnicka. Zacinali jsme ve Stare Boleslavi, kde nam zavrazdili Sv.Vaclava, pokracujic pres Ovcary a vodni lyzovani na jezere Krenek, pamatnik Jana Palacha u Vsetat, Hostin, Harasov v Kokorinskem udoli, Mseno, Stranku, Zahaji az do Repina k fotbalovemu hristi, kde nas cekal cil.

Vecer si kazdopadne bylo o cem vypravet. Kdo kde zabloudil, kdo jak lustil a nevylustil hadanky apod. Prani byt u toho a prozit si tu atmosferu, ktera je pro Kolobojovku tak specificka a opet nas nezklamala, s nami zustane i napriste; stejne tak jako vyzva nasemu 'Qtymu' dostat se z krasneho tretiho mista zas o kus dal :)

Google Docs vs. PDF podruhe

V dubnu tohoto roku jsem v clanku Jak pridat PDF file do Google Docs zminoval jak obejit tento neduh, aby jste mohli PDF soubory v Google Docs uchovavat. No a tady je update. Google Docs uz ma novou funkci na svete. Od ted jiz PDF soubory muzete nahravat prirozenou cestou jako ostatni, drive podporovane formaty a to pro soubory az do velikosti 10Mb. Ty je pak mozne primo v browseru prohlížet. PDF dokument je v praxi ulozen a zobrazovan jako PNG soubor. S takto ulozenym dokumentem je mozne i pracovat, napr. prohledavat jej ci oznacit a zkopirovat cast textu.

Jim & PIEs in High Tatras

Here's a little hello from the High Tatras where we hiked with Jim last week. We had some rain and fog, but we also had Slovak gypsies playing traditional music for us, Jim singing Irish songs for us, fun yoga classes in the morning and fun pool classes in the night. Great times! ;-)

Attempts at Wakeboarding

Yesterday was cloudy with occasional showers, nevertheless, the weather hasn't stopped us from going wakeboarding at Straz pod Ralskem. I've wakeboarded once before that - in 2005 in Michigan, behind a boat that Mike drove. Getting out of the water was the (slightly) difficult part, yet once up it went very smooth and I had a blast! ;-) However, wakeboarding on a lift is very different from wakeboarding behind a boat. The partircularly tricky parts are the start and the turns...and I must say I spent a couple of hours trying to overcome these... and I only succeeded partially - I got to the the second turn on the lift (there are four to the finish). But it was great fun anyway, Honza was the best support team and we'll surely be back! ;-) Enjoy the pics (support: Honza, audience: Paja, more able surfers: Filip & Stefi)

P.S. Forgot to mention one important thing: ALL my muscles hurt today, I have problems doing any movements, including simply driving a car! :(

Remembering Fin del Mundo

Here are some pics that I planned to post soon after we have left Ushuaia yet the time and internet connection available were not cooperating...

Argentinian rubbish bins (every house, naturally, has one, right in the front of it!); the famous Patagonian "cordero" = lamb, yami yami!; the odds of Argentinian architecture & living; Irish pub in Ushuaia (we never found it open;( we saw penguins too! (despite that some friends told us they will be gone in this time of the year...;-) the typical postcard pic of Ushuaia, the boat actually really sunk there ages ago (I thought they put it in for the sake of scenery;-) the Falkland Islands (Malvinas in Spanish) are Argentinian...; another typical pic; last but not least, the overall view: Ushuaia from the Martial glaciar hike, Beagel Channel & the Chilean Isla Navarina across :::

Konec nasi cesty je uz tady. Jsme opet v Cechach, a protoze jsem si chteli to obdobi navratu a vzpominek alespon trochu ulehcit, vzali jsme si s sebou to nejtypictejsi, co si z Argentiny muzete privezt. To magicke jmeno one veci, ktere si kazdy navstevnik tamnejsich restauraci zapamatuju uz navzdy, je "Bife de Chorizo" nebo "Bife de Lomo". Vypada to skvele na pohled, nadherne a rychle se to v kuchyni pripravuje a na taliri je to proste skvostne! Nevahejte ani minutu a jedte tam, anebo utikejte na misto, kde si to muzete objednat a zakousnout se ;o) Date nam za pravdu :::
